The XDP Main Stud Kit XD3007MS is essential for setting up your 2001-2005 GM 6.6L Duramax LB7/LLY for competition or street use. OEM main bolts typically struggle to handle the pressure in high-horsepower engines.
Constructed using an 8740 Chrome Moly with an added proprietary element ensures these studs are more durable and will not stretch like the factory bolts. The threads are rolled after heat-treating to deliver optimum fatigue strength.
These studs are rated at 210,000-230,000 psi yield strength and 220,000-236,000 psi tensile strength to ensure a strong hold under higher combustion pressures.
In addition to the increased strength, replacing the main bolts with studs also allows you to obtain a more precise torque reading. A bolt gets twisted as it is tightened, so it's reacting to two different forces at the same time.
With a stud the force gets applied to the vertical axis, resulting in a more even clamping force. These are a must have for high-performance applications and are reusable, unlike the OEM Torque-To-Yield (TTY) bolts which must be replaced after each use.
Furthermore, they can help offer easier engine assembly and proper alignment of the main bearing caps every time. These studs are manufactured in an ISO/TS 16949 quality control facility. Included in this kit are 12-point nuts, washers, installation instructions. Assembly lubricant sold separately.

Tech Tips:
XDP Thread Cleaning Chasers (Sold Separately):
Both the XD40126TC and XD40125T are a great add-on that will be critical during installation. Thread Cleaning Chasers are an excellent tool to have on-hand to ensure you have properly cleaned the threads in your engine block before the installation of any fasteners. Clean threads provide accurate torque readings and will help give you peace of mind during your engine build or head gasket repair.
XDP X-TRA Slick Engine and Fastener Assembly Lubricant (Sold Separately):
The use of XD541 is highly recommended during engine assembly. Apply XDP X-TRA Slick Lubricant to head studs, head bolts, main studs, main bolts, connecting rod bolts, and any other fasteners used during engine assembly. Using a proper assembly lubricant during fastener installation reduces friction and torque pre-load scatter in the torquing sequence, while also helping to prevent thread galling and seizing.
